Recently my wife Ronica and I took a trip to Costa Rica and instead of the just sitting at the beach which seems like everyone I talk to does my wife decided to show me the real Costa Rica. I was checking the weather everyday before we left and the forecast was always for cloud and rain but immediately when we landed its was pretty much perfect weather. Once we left the airport my father in law and his best friend took us to our first site which was the Irazu Volcano.

The day after our arrival to Costa Rica we head out to Monteverde which is a Rain Forest located in Central Costa Rica that is about a 3.5 hour trip from San Jose which is the main big city of Costa Rica. More information on Monteverde can be found here

After going through the rainforest we head out at night to the Arenal Volcano and found a hotel with a natural hot spring. We were told that the Volcano has erupted in over 6 months and may not for a very long time so we didnt get to really experience the volcano but being that my wife is a massage therapist we took a quick look at the outdoor spa they offered.

Here is a shot of the volcano with the clouds hanging really low

Once we were done in Arenal we made our way to the beach side but had to make our way through the country side and briefly stopped in Jaco. Jaco is a big tourist beach with some good seafood I highly recommend Arroz Con Pollo y Camarones at almost any restaurant

We got to Jaco and I didn’t get any shots in the city but I got 1 sunset shot as we head to Quepos.

After 1 grueling drive in the rain and dark highways we made it safe to Quepos slept in a hotel and took a ATV ride through Manuel Antonia but really you ride through this 160,000 acre privately owned land. I highly recommend you do the ATV tour because its about 2.5 hours of driving through this area that is extremely beautiful and also has a unbelievable waterfall you stop at for 30-40 minutes.More info on the ATV tour is HERE http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g309274-d1228136-Reviews-ATV_Quad_Adventure-Manuel_Antonio_National_Park_Province_of_Puntarenas.html

After an exhausting day of riding through Manuel Antonio we head to a hotel in Manuel Antonio and stayed the night and took our adventure to the Manuel Antonio National Park.

Next on the list was going back to San Jose and see the inner city and see where my father in law grew up and visit the land and apartments he owns in Costa but first I had to stop by this Bar and Grill that used a real military plane as the centerpiece of the theme.

We got back to the city and decided to to sleep and go visit downtown in the morning.

So after 8 days I have to say I am thankful to have seen pretty much everything because I’m not sure of when I will go back but atleast I got to experience the real Costa Rica and can go to a all inclusive resort and relax. All thanks be to my wife and father in law for the great time and can say I have been anointed a Costa Rican LOL.
